The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has come out with specific recommendations regarding the process for cleaning carpets with respect to infection control. For soft (porous) surfaces such as carpeted floors, rugs, and drapes, the CDC suggests removal of visible contamination if present and clean with appropriate cleaners indicated for use on these surfaces. Hot water extraction removes pathogens and any food source. After cleaning, EPA-approved chemistry (listed on their website) can be used to limit the potential for remaining pathogens.
It should be noted that Covid-19 does not have a very long shelf life on soft surfaces. Industry standard cleaning procedures using proper chemistry and hot water will be more than sufficient to eliminate the potential of pathogen growth. Our truck-mounted units will heat the water temperature to over 200 degrees Fahrenheit. When we marry that with our emulsifier, which contains sufficient amounts of Hydro Peroxide and a Quaternary (disinfectant), we have your safety and health as our paramount concern.
